Yes, It’s Possible: The Best Sex Positions for Internal Orgasms - House of Charm

Yes, It’s Possible: The Best Sex Positions for Internal Orgasms

For most women, internal orgasms are as elusive as the meaning of life itself. After all, it’s no secret that climaxing from penetration is often harder than climaxing from clitoral stimulation. And yet, sex toys designed to target and stimulate the G-spot are constantly being marketed to us, which makes me inclined to think that having internal orgasms is possible—the question is how to make that happen.

According to Founder and Director of award-winning ethical porn site Sssh.com, Angie Rowntree, the inside of the vagina has far fewer nerve endings than the clitoris, so it requires more specific pressure and movement to orgasm. This means that finding the right sex position for your unique and beautiful genital anatomy is key to increasing your chances of having internal orgasms.

While every woman is different, Rowntree says some tried-and-true positions increase your chances of having a coveted vaginal orgasm—they just might need a few modifications simply because of the way the female anatomy is designed naturally. Ultimately, it comes down to playing around with different moves and finding what your body responds best to. Here are the best sex positions for internal orgasms, including everything you need to know about them and how to modify them for a better sensation, solo or partnered:

She was inducted into the Adult Video News Hall of Fame and has been profiled by a variety of major media outlets, including ABC’s Nightline, CNBC, Fox, Cosmopolitan, NPR, BBC, and TIME magazine.

Rear-entry sex positions

Changing the angle of penetration is one of the simplest ways to experiment with techniques to find and stimulate the G-spot. Case in point: Rear-entry sex positions. “Some forms of rear-entry cause contact with the hotly contested yet deeply-in-demand G-spot,” Rowntree explained. Plus, they allow for ultra-deep penetration and press against the front of the vaginal wall where the A-spot is located. Needless to say, all of these combined factors can increase your chances of having an internal orgasm (and many more).

Solo: Over the Hump

If you’re playing solo, try lying flat on your stomach with a pillow or two underneath your stomach and hips; your legs should be bent at the knees rather than flat, and you should be propped up on your elbows. This position will angle your hips upward and mimic the angle of penetration you’d receive from a partner behind you. From here, place one arm between your genitalia and the pillow, and use a toy or your fingers to go in and explore.

Admittedly, this angle can feel a bit awkward at first, so setting the mood with some candles and music and using lots of lube is key. Likewise, you can also try stimulating the clitoris first to increase arousal before moving in. According to Rowntree, this external stimulation is not a mutually exclusive pathway to a clitoral orgasm; rather, it can lead to a blended or internal one as well. Once you feel ready, move on in and penetrate the vagina with a sex toy or your fingers. While there’s no wrong way to do this, moving around your fingers or toy inside of you in various motions (think: back and forth, in circles, side to side, applying pressure) will heighten your chances of climaxing internally.

Partnered: Doggy Style

Doggy style is one of the best sex positions for internal orgasms. While it’s pretty self-explanatory (you get down on all fours with your legs spread apart while your partner stands or kneels behind you), tilting your butt high in the air is key. This will make it easier for your partner to get in deep and hit the front of your vaginal wall. And this, in turn, will stroke the G-spot and A-spot. Receiving penetration in an upward motion is paramount here. And if you want to up the ante and try for a blended orgasm, ask them to use their fingers to simultaneously stimulate your clitoris since this position gives them direct access to it.

Similarly, you can also try lying flat on your stomach with your legs close together and your butt and hips tilted upwards while your partner kneels on either side of you and enters from behind. Be warned, though: This is not for the faint of heart. Because the penetration from this angle is so deep, your partner is more likely to bump around your cervix. Since the vagina elongates when it’s fully aroused, taking enough time for foreplay and using plenty of lube during it and penetration can prevent this from happening. And of course, communicating with your partner about what feels good and doesn’t is also key.

Missionary Sex Positions

The missionary sex position is a classic for a reason. And according to Rowntree, making some simple modifications might be all you need to have an internal orgasm from this beloved sex position. Typically, this can be done by elevating your hips or experimenting with the depth of penetration. She explained that these subtle changes can sometimes make thrusts feel tighter and more intense. “You might find that your regularly scheduled missionary sex becomes mission-not-so-impossible,” she said.

Solo: Shallowing

To increase your chances of having an internal orgasm solo dolo, Rowntree recommends experimenting with some solo shallowing. This will heighten sensations and arousal, which can lead to stronger orgasms. To do this, lie on your back with your knees bent and a pillow underneath your hips using your fingers or an egg vibrator; Rowntree recommends using the latter since it’ll really tease those sensitive nerve endings around the vaginal opening, which is about two inches deep, and heighten arousal. Obviously, the key is to not go too deep, regardless of how you choose to pleasure yourself. Then, you can experiment with some light thrusting motions alone or combined with other methods of stimulation via the clitoris or nipples.

Partnered: Pillow Missionary

Similar to rear-entry sex positions, propping your hips up with a pillow during missionary will make it easier for your partner to hit the front wall of your vagina and, in turn, increase your chances of orgasm. You can choose to keep your legs up in the air (think: resting on your partner’s shoulders or having them hold them) or wrap your legs around their back, whichever feels best for you.

While having your partner thrust in and out will get you wet, ask them to experiment with different moves inside of you. For example, you can ask them to move in circles, go in deep and apply pressure to the G-spot, and so forth. Likewise, you can also try rocking and moving your body differently as well; instead of having them move in circles, you could have them go in deep and hit the G-spot, and then rock back and forth and move your hips accordingly.

Rider Sex Positions

Raise your hand if you remember the Sex and the City episode when Samantha “lost her orgasm,” and Carrie asked if she was on top when it happened. (It’s season 4, episode 8, “My Motherboard, My Self” in case you need a refresher.) While the conversation served for memorable TV, the sentiment still rings true. Rowntree explained that some women love riding their partner because of the certain “tilt” it creates. Plus, it gives you more control since you can control the depth, speed, and angle of penetration—all of which is a recipe for having an internal orgasm.

Solo: Superstar

Trying to mimic a rider sex position during masturbation might seem tricky, but fear not: It can be done with the superstar. With this solo sex move, you start out on your knees on a bed (or another soft and comfortable surface), open in a way that’s comfortable for you, with your upper body upright. From here, you can use one arm or hold onto a headboard or wall for support, and move accordingly on top of your fingers or a sex toy, like a glass dildo. This will allow you to rock back and forth, lean forward and back, move up and down, and so forth in a way that not only feels ahh-mazing but also helps you discover the best angle to stroke your G-spot. Don’t be afraid to let yourself have fun and enjoy the ride—pun fully intended.

Partnered: Cowgirl

Like missionary, the cowgirl sex position is beloved for a reason. Not only does it let you take control (which can be a serious turn-on), but it also lets you experiment with different angles of penetration. So, set up like you normally would for cowgirl and get creative; try bouncing up and down, leaning your upper body away from your partner and having them thrust, or resting on top of them so you’re face-to-face. Likewise, rather than kneeling, you can also try squatting, keeping your legs straight out in front of you, or doing a little switcheroo and trying reverse cowgirl.
